During the first trimester (3 months), it is best to avoid all medications if possible. Your doctor should be made aware of any prescription medications you are taking, or of any herbal or homeopathic substances you are using during pregnancy. It is also important to notify all other health care providers, including dentists, that you’re pregnant. We are available to consult with your other physicians or dentist if prescription drugs are indicated. For your convenience, we have listed a number of medications that are permitted in pregnancy with reasonable, necessary and sparing use. You will also be offered some immunizations during your pregnancy. For immunization information, please visit Immunizations During Pregnancy. If you have questions about the safety of any medication during pregnancy you can call our office or you can call the Pregnancy Risk Line at 800.822.BABY (2299).
