Fetal Movement

Pregnancy

One of the most thrilling experiences in pregnancy is getting to feel your baby move inside of you. The first subtle kicks, also known as quickening, can sometimes be felt as early as 16 weeks. These kicks can most likely only be felt by a veteran mom who has learned to distinguish the kick of baby from other rumblings in her stomach. But most women won’t begin to feel any movement until later on in pregnancy.

You’re also more likely to feel these early movements when you’re sitting or lying quietly. And your build may have something to do with when you’ll be able to tell a baby kick from a hunger pang, as thin women tend to feel movement earlier and more often. Once you can feel your baby moving, it probably will be a few weeks more until your partner can begin to feel your baby kick.
