Midwife Feature: Tina Nackos, C.N.M.

Provider Feature

We are excited to introduce you to Tina Nackos, a Certified Nurse Midwife with our Orem Midwife Group. With her Masters Degree in Nursing and a Board certified Midwife she is an incredible asset to our team. Get to know a little more about her and her background below!

Tell us about where you grew up and a little about your family.

I grew up in Mapleton, UT with six sisters and one brother. Other than living in Nebraska for two years, and Nevada for two years, I have lived in Utah most my life. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have 4 sons. I’m a little outnumbered and am looking forward to having future daughter-in-laws.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time how do you pass the time?

I love to read! I have always loved to read. Even as a child, my mom would find me reading late into the night. If I have free-time, I would much rather pick up an enjoyable book, than watch TV. In my home, I requested that the extra bedroom be turned into a library. And I have a problem…buying books, so my library shelves are overflowing!

What is your favorite thing about your career?

I love my job because I get to meet so many strong, amazing women. Through the years as a Labor and Delivery nurse and now as a Nurse Midwife, I have loved spending time with my patients and getting to know them. It’s so much fun!

What’s your personal motto?

Many years ago, I heard the phrase, “You can do hard things!” This has been my mantra ever since. Often in life, it’s easy to get discouraged or frustrated. It’s easy to give up on our dreams because the task ahead seems daunting or impossible. I believe we can do hard things and we can achieve anything we put our minds to! When I get frustrated and want to give up, I just remember… “Actually, I can!”

Why did you choose your profession?

I began the Nursing program a little later in life than some…after having 4 children of my own.  At that point, I knew I was finished having children, but wasn’t ready to completely be done with the “miracle of birth.” So… I became a Labor and Delivery nurse. I was a Labor and Delivery nurse for 10 years and LOVED it. This became the stepping stone to my current profession as a Certified Nurse Midwife. I have met many amazing people through the years, both co-workers and patients alike, that I will always consider friends.
