Tara Udy, N.P
Nurse Practitioner
Tara Udy is a dedicated healthcare professional with a specialization in mental health, focusing on conditions such as depression, anxiety, OCD, and medication management for women.
Her journey in healthcare began with the completion of a Medical Assistant Certificate from Provo College in 2010. She started her career in women’s health and discovered her passion for the field. This led her to further her education. She obtained her RN, BSN from Western Governors University in 2018. In 2020, Tara was accepted into the MSN, FNP program at Roseman University of Health Sciences, a rigorous and rewarding journey that culminated in her board certification in 2022.
In 2022, Tara’s dedication to women’s mental health found its home at Valley Women’s Health as she joined the Mental Health Division. Her profound empathy for the challenges faced by women and their families in the context of postpartum depression was cultivated during her two years of graduate school studies. Guiding individuals toward happier and healthier lives is the most rewarding aspect of her daily work. While postpartum depression and anxiety remain her primary focus, Tara’s expertise also spans general anxiety and depression, medication management for adult ADHD, and providing support for those with eating disorders.
Recognizing that each patient is unique, Tara approaches every case with a blank slate. After in-depth discussions about the patient’s experiences, she collaborates with them to develop a tailored treatment plan, fostering a greater chance of successfully achieving remission from these disorders. When she cannot provide the specific care a patient is seeking, Tara offers a range of community resources for additional support. Each patient is treated as an individual, with treatment modalities ranging from pharmacotherapy and psychoeducation to nonpharmacological methods, and referrals to therapists and psychologists.
Tara understands the strength it takes to seek help and commends her patients for taking that step. She meets her patients where they are, avoiding any pressure to use medication when it may not be necessary. Tara acknowledges that some situations may call for medication to ensure the safest outcome for patients. Basic aspects of self-care, including sleep, hydration, nutrition, and overall well-being, are fundamental for maintaining good mental health. “You can’t care for others if you are empty.”
Tara’s professional affiliations underscore her commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare. She holds membership in the American Nurses Association (ANA) and is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Tara is also an active member of Postpartum Support International (PSI) and its local chapter, PSI-Utah. She has completed certified courses specializing in perinatal mood disorders and medication through PSI. In addition, Tara is an engaged member of the Neuroscience Education Institute, an organization dedicated to offering evidence-based educational activities that elevate the competence of healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating psychiatric and neurologic conditions. Beyond her professional affiliations, Tara actively contributes to her community by volunteering for PSI. Notably, she played a pivotal role in launching the first annual Utah County “Climb out of the Darkness” event in 2023, which was a perinatal mental health awareness event. This event served as a powerful demonstration of the local community’s support for women and their families.
Outside of her professional life, Tara is a loving mother of three wonderful women, has a son-in-law, and is blessed with two amazing grandchildren. She enjoys spontaneous road trips and adventures, particularly if they involve Disneyland. Tara also relishes a good book on the beach and cherishes moments spent with her friends.
